SAVE: The Magic word

I just finished watching a movie (along with my parents). At home.

'Baghban', when literally translated means the gardener, is the story of Raj Malhotra (Amitabh Bachchan), his wife Pooja (Hema Malini) and their four sons. It portrays the apathy of youth towards their elders. It also teaches the importance of family, life and our culture. We all were very impressed and touched by the movie. Round of applause for the Big B. The movie actually reminded me of a conversation I had with my dad few months ago.

ME: Dad, how much do you earn? (He is a CA practicing since last 25 years in Chennai - and he sure is great CA).
Dad: 40 thousand per month!
Me: WHAT! That’s all?
Dad: Yes, that’s all that I earn.
Me: You must be kidding, I earn a little more than you already.
[He agreed. I couldn't agree.]
Me: dad you have been working since over 25 years now, your income per month should be in lacs. [He laughed it out] - Why are you laughing?
Dad: Shalin, how much have you saved in last 2 years of your earning, forget all your capital investments, tell me how much?
Me: Cipher .... But dad I have invested it back in my business...
Dad: Whatever it is, first, you are able to earn 40k per month because we have given you the support and opportunities to get to this and the market today allows you to. We have saved all our life to make sure that you have a good backing for today and future, good education and resources. We have SAVED. You should learn when to spend, what to spend on and learn to save with how much ever you earn.

I was convinced about my ability to make money due to their support and love. But still not very sure about the saving concept. But trust me, now, everyday I am discovering a new definition to this MAGIC word “SAVE". Save at some point also means optimize. Save also means avoid wastage. I salute my dad for what he has thought me, and I really appreciate that he let me free to learn it myself. The movie also is a great inspiration for my tomorrow and life thereafter.

yes, SAVE is for sure a magic word!

Here is my experience for you guys.

Shal and me were dicsussing over buying a new mobile for me, I gota nokia 3310 which is quite obselete and i wanted a change badly bcoz i coudn't store more than 100 names on this model, it doesn't have phone memory.

my father wanted to change his mobile and my sister needed a mobile for her new connection.

after hours of reasearch over nokia, sony and panasonic websites, i decided to go for a 3100, a cool mobile.

I returned home to tell my dad that i will go for it, and my dad had already bought a nokia 3100 for him!

It was an awesome model. I really liked it, and the Magic Word struck my mind.

I took my dad's 8250 (a good model too) and gave my sis. my 3310.

I learnt when to spend and learnt to SAVE, or atleast started to learn.

Hey!!
This is really true. Our generation is actually expoiting the platform which our parents have build for us to build a higher and beautiful building.

Whatever we earn cannot be more that what they have given us over the years. I think best way to respect their effort is to make efforts to respect every little thing they have done and try to give as much as possible to our kids.

It might sound very spiritual but it is very true that every generation bears the fruits of the efforts of there previous generation. So if we have to make our next generation to respect our efforts for them then we should try to respect and learn from the work our elders have done in their lifespan.

Thanks shalin for bringing up this thing. I think this is a good place to share our thoughts and bring up the things which all of us would be really thinking in our innerhearts but due to compulsions in our day to day life we don't think much about what is happening around us.

Take it this way....There have been great people in the past.... and people have built a shelter where pictures of those great people can be kept, so that people visit them and get inspired by their qualities which they had procured.

That shelter is nothing but a Temple.

It is similar to how a business man will appreciate Dhiru Bhai Ambani.

There have been devotees to appreciate the great people of great virtues.
