Yellow Taxi

Heading East: Part 1

"Shalin - look; yellow taxi!" exclaimed karthik (kk).

We were looking at an array of yellow taxi's queued at the pre-paid taxi stand right outside the Kolkota Airport. They wore 100% yellow paint unlike taxi's in other cities. I was just about comment on it "this reminds me of New York". But I knew karthik would have given me a dirty stare on that; for the fact that we landed up in Kolkota from Chennai not NY and I had never been to NY. KK pulled out his camera in no time.

Click! (not the mouse click)

We began our journey by hiring a taxi to Vidyasagar Sethu (Sethu means bridge in bengali). It's a majestic suspension bridge quite similar to the Howrah Bridge. The view was breath-taking but the sad part was we weren't allowed to click. We soon headed towards the Victoria Memorial.

It's huge, beautiful and 'must see' in kolkota. We took a train the same evening to head to our next destination - Darjeeling!
