“It might rain today” I said to myself as I parked the car. The clouds had turned gray and had vanquished the sun for the day. “Vishnu, are you back?” inquired mom. She was in the backyard busy re-arranging the pots. She sure loved gardening like Amma did but there was something different in how mom did the job. She was more worried about how people would look at it, a perfectionist unlike me and dad.

Chapter 3: The Blue Paint

I rubbed my eyes and pulled myself out of the rug. I looked at the timepiece in disbelieve. It clocked 7:56 am. I had to skip breakfast to get to college on time. It was a pleasant morning. I could see a huge gathering of clouds in the sky as if they had come together for a tea party. I was looking out of our lecture room's windowpane. I was scribbling on the white sheet of paper pretending to write. It was quite unusual of me not focusing on the lecture. I blamed the weather for it.

Chapter 2: Hot Samosas

The bus dropped me few blocks away from home. I rushed home; I was excited to meet my parents and tell them how much I loved it there. Ramya, the maid, told me that my mom and dad had left for a house warming ceremony. I dumped my baggage in my room and called up Arjun. I was feeling very energetic and was excited to share my experience. Arjun was my best friend; we had been together since last 7 years. Arjun was a computer fanatic. He had a great sense of humor although at times he cracked a lot of silly jokes. We knew each other inside out and had a very strong bond. We decided to meet at our regular haunt - our college canteen.

Chapter 1: Meeting Mira

My First Short Story

It was a cold morning. "Vishnu, wake up" my grand mother screeched in her high-pitched voice. I woke up in cheer disappointment. "Amma, you should have let me sleep, I was having a wonderful dream". She gave me a deaf ear and went about doing her daily chore. I helped her every morning in the garden. I actually enjoyed doing it. I liked to watch her talk to the little plants. She was very compassionate and loving. She often became my source of inspiration.
