Sunday Morning Dreams

This could be my last post*. (Conditions Apply)

Sunday to many is by far the best day of the week. And Saturday can be equally fun if you are good at procrastinating. I love waking up on Sunday mornings. You have no check to signs, no bills to pay, emails that don't make you feel guilty if you don't respond in a few minutes. Having said that, most interesting part of the day is the morning dream. You wake up with hope, ideas and a nice smile.

From a prospective employee: "Do guys work from a room or garage?"
me: "Even worse, we have a well structured office."

Incredible Mr. Incredible

The Incredibles is an amazing animated sci-fi action packed movie. For the first time Pixar has used only human characters in a film. There is amazing amount of creativity and sense of humor displayed through out the movie. The characters are well thought of and the voice over is done very well. In order to give Dash a realistic out-of-breath voice, Brad Bird (Director) made Spencer Fox run laps around the studio.

Out of the 4 movies that I saw in last 6 months - 3 were animated. Pixar's next movie Cars is due for release in June 2006.

Tsunami hits South Asia - Donate funds

Tsunami flooded many homes
tears flooded lot many hearts

corpse after corpse buried
under make shift graves
eyes wept, faces hanged

there is no count
that measures up the tragedy
there is a strange silence
left behind;

The disaster

Exit polls - Helps NDA

My response to Sandesh's post.

Exit polls are indeed helping NDA. It is proved that higher voter turn-out benefits NDA (shown with figures on NDTV). So I think the exit polls would induce BJP supporters to go out and cast their vote. Besides, exit polls have great scope for error.

Blog - One Click Publishing

I designed my first homepage way back in 1998 and hosted at free hosting website. As months passed and other things kept me occupied, I found it difficult to keep updating content. My enthu to add content was less and to design a better site was more. Now, work keeps me real busy and it's tough to find great deal of time to update things. But thanks to blog revolution - it easy and effortless. One click and I have new story to tell. Anyways, the objective of my post here to forward this little gyan to other friends and colleagues who would want to BLOG! Other experts bloggers can add supplements to this post by means of comments.

What is Blog?
A blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of updating a blog is "blogging" and someone who keeps a blog is a "blogger." Blogs are typically updated daily using software that allows people with little or no technical background to update and maintain the blog. Postings on a blog are almost always arranged in cronological order with the most recent additions featured most prominantly. (Source: www.matisse.net/files/glossary.html)

shalinjain.com runs on MT 2.661

Here goes my first post on this new Blog.

I have moved my blog from blogger service to MoveableType (MT). MoveableType is a much more advanced blogging/cms system. It wasn't easy installing it on a Windows server (for me) but my friend Hari (Geek!) helped me through it and installed MT 2.661. Thanks Hari.

Hope you guys like the new blog, keep the comments coming in!

Why did the chicken cross the road?

I found this interesting question on some geek's (Roland Ahlborn) personal website. Some replies to the question are posted below. Click here for the complete list of answers.

I found it pretty interesting and came up with my version of it. Let me know if you have answer to it, if yes, post it in the comments area. :)

EINSTEIN: Whether the chicken crossed the road or the road moved beneath the chicken depends on your frame of reference.
